Rownhams is a village in Hampshire, north-west of the City of Southampton. Rownhams services is a nearby service station on the M27 motorway that runs to the north of the village.

Nearby Nursling is a village in Hampshire, England, situated about 6 kilometres north-west of the city of Southampton. Nursling Industrial Estate houses several important businesses, such as Tesco, Norbert Dentressangle and Meachers, and is ably served by transport links.  Nursling is also home to one of the two South Central Ambulance Service stations that serve the Southampton area.

Residential Area

Rownhams and Nursling have lots of housing estates offering plenty of detached modern build houses, great for families.


Rownhams and Nursling are only a short drive from from Sainsbury’s Supermarket in Lordshill.  Nursling also offers plenty of convenience stores such co-op.  It also offers a range of hairdressers.  Close by is also Nursling industrial estate containing B&Q and Carpetright.


Nursling offers a selection of pubs with lovely atmospheres including The Four Horseshoes Pub, The Balmoral and Horns Inn. It is also only a short journey from Southampton City Centre with bus links running till late.


Nursling & Rownhams has two primary schools for pupils aged 4 to 11:  Nursling (Church of England) Controlled Primary School, Nursling Street and Rownhams St John’s Church of England Primary School, Bakers Drove, Rownhams.  The closest secondary school is The Mountbatten School.


Bluestar No 4 service runs to Romsey and Southampton every half hour during the day.

The Dial A Ride services around Romsey, now called the Test Valley Dial A Ride, are operated by Test Valley Community Transport on behalf of Hampshire County Council and Test Valley Borough Council. Dial a Ride is a door-to-door service for anyone who finds it difficult or impossible to use ordinary bus services. The service is available to anyone who has a mobility or sensory impairment which means that they are unable, or experience difficulty with, or discomfort in using bus services. You don’t have to be registered disabled or a wheelchair user. For example, you might have difficulty climbing steps on to buses, or be unable to walk to a bus stop.

Stagecoach operate services to Peter Symonds College in Winchester – see map  and timetable,  and also the regular 46 week day service from Southampton General to Winchester via Rownhams Lane (and Nursling – 46A)

The nearest train stations are Romsey, Southampton Airport Parkway and Southampton Central. The shortest journey time by car to any of these is around 10 minutes.

Southampton Airport is 7 miles from Nursling & Rownhams with flights to most European countries and many UK airports.
