Locks Heath is a popular area of Southampton to live, particularly with families.


Locks Heath is a western residential suburb of Fareham. It lies to the east of Sarisbury and Warsash, to the west of Titchfield, and south of Park Gate and Swanwick. It sits on a relatively flat area of land off the coastal plain between the valleys of the River Hamble and the River Meon.

Residential Area

The residential area is a mix of medium to large houses and bungalows. Mostly these are detached but there is some semi-detached too. There are a high number of mature trees in front gardens and on boundaries which adds to the tranquil character of most roads.


The Lockswood centre in Locks Heath is where you will find The Lock Stock and Barrel pub and a supermarket. The centre now provides a focal point for the area and also includes a library, community centre and GP surgery. The centre is arranged in a U-shape around a pedestrian space plus car parking is available.


There are numerous local pubs and restaurants to suit all tastes. As with any major city, there is always a very wide choice of bars and clubs. The city centre of Southampton is only a twenty minute drive away.

Local schools

There are many junior schools including St.Johns School and Locks Heath Junior School where most of the Locks Heath infants pupils go to after they leave primary school, Hook- with- Warsash Junior School, Park Gate Primary School and Sarisbury Junior School. The only state secondary school is Brookfield Community School and Language College where an average 90% of pupils transfer to.


First Hampshire and Dorset bus operators serve the bus routes in Locks Heath.

The nearest train station from Locks Heath is Swanick. This is located 1 mile away. The nearest large train station is Southampton Central just twenty minutes away in the city centre.
