Buy in Hedge End

Hedge End is an extremely popular area to buy in, as the town offers plenty of new build developments. As a result, it’s very attractive to young couples, families and working professionals.


Hedge End is a town and civil parish located in Hampshire in England. It is situated to the east of the City of Southampton, adjoining the districts of West End and Botley. It also lies within the Borough of Eastleigh and is part of the Southampton Urban Area. The Rose Bowl – home of Hampshire County Cricket Club – is situated in nearby West End, which benefits from the road and rail links that serve the area.

Residential Area

Hedge End has a couple of new developments offering a massive range of townhouses, houses, flats and apartments. These are mostly found in the White’s Way development, Turnpike Way and also the Botleigh Grange development. Furthermore, there is a large estate offering plenty of detached and semi-detached housing, perfect for families. Plus there are also detached family homes in more secluded areas.


The town offers two supermarkets – Sainsbury’s and Marks & Spencers. It also has a PC World, Halfords and Homebase. There are also has plenty of convenience stores such as Tesco express.


As far as nightlife goes, you would be better off heading to Southampton City Centre which benefits from endless amounts of pubs, bars and nightclubs. However, if quieter pubs are your thing, there is the Shamblehurst Barn which is very popular as a family restaurant and pub.

Local Schools

Wildern Secondary School is in the town, which currently has around 1800 pupils. It also has a recently renovated sports centre which serves the local community. This has a large sports hall, indoor heated swimming pool, gym facilities and a professional dance studio. The school also has an astro-turf area.

Shamblehurst Primary School is adjacent to the Wildern site. Freegrounds Infant and Junior Schools occupy a shared site on the other side of the town centre. Kings Copse Primary School is also very local. It boasts many modern facilities and provides a stunning learning environment for its pupils. An additional primary school, Wellstead, opened at Dowd’s Farm in Grange Park in April 2008.


West End is only a short walk to Hedge End train station, offering links to Southampton and London. In addition to this, there are plenty of bus routes to Southampton.
