Buy in Coxford and Maybush

Coxford and Maybush are extremely popular areas, consequently attracting mostly hospital staff and families.


Coxford Ward is in the north of the city and has a population of around 13,900. Neighbouring Wards are Bassett, Redbridge and Shirley.

Maybush is a district in Southampton. Located in the western side of the city, Maybush is probably most famous as the former location of the Ordnance Survey head office.

Residential Area

Coxford is home to Southampton General Hospital. The area is mostly made up of estates with gardens and green space. Lordsdale Greenway runs through Coxford Ward and continues into the neighbouring district council of Test Valley.

As a result of this, Maybush offers a wide selection of housing, ranging from detached family homes to new builds.

Shopping/ Leisure and community

Within the ward of Coxford is a large shopping area, known as Lordshill district centre. Here you’ll find shops, a bingo hall, library, housing office and medical facilities.

Maybush has plenty of local convenience stores, such as co-op.

Local schools/ Education

Local schools include Shirley warren primary and nursery school. Furthermore, Shirley Warren Primary School is situated to the north west of Southampton in the ward of Millbrook. It shares a site with four other educational agencies. Football, cross-country, choir and TOPS sports clubs take place after school. There are visits to France and the Stubbington Study Centre for juniors. The school has a tradition of extensive fundraising for charity and close links with the local community.

In addition to this, Maybush is home to the new secondary school ‘Oasis Academy’.  It is also home to Redbridge Community School and Cedar School.


Uni-link, Blustar and First Bus are the main bus operators which serve the areas of Shirley Warren and Coxford. The closest train station is Southampton Central. This is located 2.8 miles away, which is only a 7 minute drive. As a consequence, Maybush has plenty of transport links to Southampton City Centre and is only a short journey to Southampton Central Train Station.
